Healthy Reminders

In my last post, I thought I’d share some healthy eating tips and reminders.  I’ll go over some of the switches and replacements you can make when placing your order, and the calories you will be saving in doing so.  Let’s start with some healthy eating reminders:

–          Remember to watch your portion sizes

–          If bring your food home, use your own sides such as yogurt, fruit, or salad.

–          Order water, milk, or diet soda instead of a sugary beverage

–          Avoid high fat salad dressings

–          Choose grilled over fried chicken, and low fat mayonnaise if possible.

–          Stay away from the fried stuff!

Here are some changes you can make to improve the health quality of your meal when ordering out:

–          A junior whopper from Burger King, ordered without the mayonnaise and cheese, will save you 480 calories and 56 grams of fat.

–          An order of small fries as opposed to large at McDonalds will shave off 270 calories and 14 grams of fat.

–          At McDonalds, a hamburger carries 210 less calories and 20 less grams of fat than a ten piece chick nugget order.

–          At a sub shop, an eight inch turkey sub will have 290 less calories and 20 less grams of fat than an eight inch Italian sub.

–          At Wendy’s, a mandarin chicken salad with almonds and oriental dressing instead of a chicken BLT salad with honey Dijon dressing will save you 360 calories and 30 grams of fat.
